Bo Westcombe-Evans scored four tries as Loughborough Lightning came from behind to beat Harlequins 38-19 in the Allianz Premiership Women’s Rugby.
Lightning missed out on a place in the semi-finals after falling to a 61-26 defeat against defending champions Gloucester-Hartpury last weekend, but they bounced back to beat Quins at home.
Westcombe-Evans and Emma Wassell crossed the whitewash during a thunderous start for the hosts, but Jessie Spurrier and Carys Phillips put Quins ahead at the break.
Ella Cromack and Westcombe-Evans traded tries after half-time before the Lightning winger touched down twice in 10 minutes to take the game away from Quins.
England legend Emily Scarratt made sure of things with four minutes remaining to increase the gap between the two sides in the Allianz Premiership Women’s Rugby table.
Westcombe-Evans scored her first try within four minutes of kick-off.
The winger collected a clearing kick before bursting down the left wing and finishing superbly to give her side the lead.
It was 12-0 14 minutes later when Wassell powered over the line after some great work from Katie Trevarthen, who was making her 100th appearance for Loughborough Lightning.
It was far from over, and Quins quickly grew into the game.
Spurrier crossed the whitewash from close range before Rachel Malcolm saw yellow for an accumulation of infringements.
And the visitors were ahead at half-time when Phillips went over in the corner.
Lightning wasted no time getting back on the front foot, crossing within two minutes of the restart after Westcombe-Evans collected Helen Nelson’s crossfield kick.
Cromack put Quins ahead for what proved to be the final time after a neat pass from Emily Scott, but Lightning came alive in the final 15 minutes.
Westcombe-Evans completed her hat-trick after getting on the end of another Nelson kick, and it was 31-19 when she collected a looping Scarratt pass before gliding past the Quins defence from 40 metres out.
Scarratt had been pulling the strings all afternoon, and she scored a try of her own with four minutes remaining to wrap up a convincing win for Lightning.
