The remaining results for Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have been predicted as the three teams battle it out in the Premier League title race. TNT Sports duo Rio Ferdinand and Laura Woods guessed the remaining results, before tallying up the points to see who would finish the season at the top of the table. TNT Sports duo Rio Ferdinand and Laura Woods have predicted the Premier League title run-in between Arsenal, Liverpool and City.
After thrashing Luton Town 5-1, City are currently top of the table with 73 points, two points ahead of both Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Gunners will go back to the top with a win against Aston Villa on Sunday, April 14, with their superior goal difference giving them the advantage unless Liverpool do something remarkable against Crystal Palace.
With the title race hanging in the balance, Ferdinand and Woods guessed the results of the three teams’ remaining fixtures, before tallying up the points to see who would finish the season at the top of the table.
Woods predicted that the title would be decided on the final day of the campaign, with Arsenal triumphing on 92 points. By her estimate, Liverpool would also finish on 92 points, but miss out on the title by goal difference. City will trail by one point to place third.
In fact, Woods backed all three teams to go the remainder of the season without dropping points.
“I don’t think I said City, Arsenal or Liverpool would drop a point, which means unless there’s a big swing, Arsenal win the league,” Woods said.
This would see Arsenal earn victories over Chelsea at the Emirates, as well as wins in away matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Ferdinand’s prediction saw City end the season at the top of the table on 89 points, three points clear of Arsenal and Liverpool.
He only saw City dropping points by drawing to Spurs, while Arsenal would lose to Spurs and United, and Liverpool would be held to draws by Fulham, Everton and Aston Villa.
Ferdinand suggested that Liverpool would struggle with their run of away games against Fulham, Everton and West Ham.
“This is where I think it gets sticky for Liverpool – three away games on the bounce,” he said.
Ferdinand also highlighted the importance of Spurs in the title race, saying: “Tottenham can decide this whole run-in. They’re playing all three teams. They have a big say, Spurs.”
Both Arsenal and Manchester City also have UEFA Champions League quarter-final matches to contend with, with their second-leg encounters against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid live on TNT Sports and discovery+ on Wednesday, April 17.
Liverpool must overcome a three-goal deficit in their UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie against Atalanta, with their second leg live on TNT Sports and discovery+ on Thursday, April 18.
