Sam Noakes claimed the vacant British and WBO International lightweight titles, adding them to the WBC International Silver and Commonwealth straps that he brought into the bout. Earlier in the evening at the Copper Box Arena in London, Masood Abdulah, Umar Khan and Billy Adams were all winners on the undercard for Hamzah Sheeraz vs. Liam Williams.
Sam Noakes became a four-belt champion with a dominant display against Lewis Sylvester on Saturday night at the Copper Box Arena, live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Noakes came into the fight with the Commonwealth and WBC International silver lightweight titles to his name.
Both fighters brought undefeated records into the clash, and with the vacant WBO International and British titles also up for grabs, the winner stands a chance of pushing for a high profile 135lbs clash later in the year.
After an even opening round, Noakes started to dominate in the second as he geared up to look for his 13th consecutive stoppage.
That almost came in the third round when two body shots brought nine-counts to bookend some fierce blows against the body of Sylvester.
The moment arrived in the following round when Sylvester was sent to his knee once more, forcing his team to throw in the towel to protect their man from further punishment.
Tommy Fletcher added another name to his resume as he came up against a reluctant Alvaro Terrero, with the latter fighter pulled out of the fight by the doctor as a blow flush to the face caused him to suffer a heavy nosebleed in the third round.
Billy Adams coasted to a points win over Engel Gomez as he moved onto his second-ever professional fight, with the promising super featherweight barely tested against a fighter who now has 24 career defeats.
Umar Khan, Sheeraz’s 21-year-old featherweight cousin, showed some improved power as he earned his first knockout over Maicol Velazco, and said after the fight that he wanted to end 2024 “with a belt around my waist.”
Masood Abdulah defended his Commonwealth Silver featherweight championship with a convincing knockout victory to open the broadcast against Qais Ashfaq.
