Hello and welcome back to Eurosport’s live coverage of the Speedway GP from Poland on Saturday evening. Last time out in the opening round of the new season it was Jack Holder who ended up taking the victory it what proved to be a truly thrilling round of racing. This time around we’re in Poland and on Friday it was Great Britain’s Dan Bewley who took the sprint win.

After two rounds of the 2024 FIM Speedway Grand Prix the overall standings are:

Doyle starts quickest on the inside with Zmarzlik hunting him down on the opening lap. The home Polish rider is waiting for a mistake coming into the last lap.

However, Doyle holds on for victory Zmarzlik finishes in second and Lambert takes third. Doyle celebrates but crashes while pulling a wheelie.

Doyle takes the inside gate and Zmarzlik takes the outside gate. Vaculik and Lambert are in the middle gates.

Wozniak has the quickest start but Zmarzlik sees a gap and comes flying through. The close semi-final sees Zmarzlik hold on to second place ahead of Vaculik who comes through to take second ahead of Bewley.

Austalians Doyle and Holder are in opposite gates but will both fancy their chances of a final place. Holder comes down from the outside looking for the inside line and Huckenbeck catches his back wheel and comes crashing down ending the semi-final. Doyle is on in the inside and Huckenbeck is trapped between the two Australians with nowhere to go.

All four riders are allowed to re-start but Huckenbeck is hurt and returns back to the pits before pulling out of the evening. Holder and Doyle go head-to-head after the opening corner and touch bars before Doyle takes the lead.

Championship leader Holder is hunted down by Lambert and the British rider just does enough off the final corner to snatch second. That was close.

Doyle picks the inside gate, while Holder is on the outside, Lambert and Huckenbeck are in the middle.

Vaculik outside gate, Zmarzlik picks the inside gate and Wozniak and Bewley are in the middle.

Lindgreen needs to win to make the semi-final. Vaculik has the speed from the outside and is in control. He’s followed by Holder who will also qualify. However, a third place for Lindgreen is not enough and he’s out.

Doyle starts quickly and looks to be running away with it. However, Zmarzlik is on his tracks and tries several overtakes, but the Australian is equal to his efforts. Doyle holds on for victory Zmarzlik and Bewley in third.

Huckenbeck is the quickest starter from gate number two. He’s followed by Wozniak with both looking like they are heading into the semi-finals.

Huckenbeck wins and despite Wozniak making a mistake Woffinden can’t capitalise and his night looks to be over after finishing third.

A commanding ride by Cierniak who proves that gate four is the perfect choice. He’s got nothing to race for but gives the fans something to cheer with a home victory.

Lebedevs is fighting behind and takes second ahead of Lambert who looks to have qualified to the semi-final.

It’s all to play for coming into the final heats with riders after a top eight finish to make the semi-finals

Woffinden looked to have the quickest start but in a pulsating heat the British rider is pushed back. Vaculik eventually takes control of a very tight heat ahead of Kubera in second and Kvech in third.

Woffinden’s semi-final hopes take a huge blow after finishing fourth.

A close start sees Wozniak and Doyle go side-by-side through the opening corners. However, the Australian eventually does enough to grab hold of the first position and take the victory.

Former world champion Doyle leads the Grand Prix and takes another win, Wozniak has to settle for second and Madsen finishes third.

Championship leader Holder has been in fine form tonight and takes the lead from the outset. Huckenbeck has second but comes under increasing pressure by Lambert. It’s Lambert who has more speed out of the last corner and comes alongside Huckenbeck for a photo finish at the line. The official result shows that Lambert just did enough for second.

Lindgreen’s bike refused to start away from the tapes as his engine stops. Michelsen takes an early lead and then extends his lead each lap. Lebedevs is pushed all the way by Zmarzlik but holds on for his second placed finish.

After three races Jason Doyle is still the leader on points. The results table is as follows:

On the inside Bewley is away the quickest and forces a small gap as the rest battle for the remaining positions. Bewley is clearly the winner with Vaculik in second and Michelsen third.

Doyle was last away from the gate but found a gap on the bottom to lead. Lindgreen gains speed out wide and passes Doyle to take the lead. Doyle is pushed all the way by Lambert but holds on second, while Woffinden is without any points in fourth.

Madsen hits the front then Huckenbeck almost crashes but somehow holds on to his bike to remain in contention. The champion Zmarzlik wins his second heat of the evening but was pushed all the way Huckenbeck.

Championship leader Holder takes the lead holding off a tough challenge from Wozniak. After taking third two places Holder takes a commanding win to boost his semi-final hopes. Wozniak was put under pressure from Lebedevs but held on for second position.

Here is how we look after two rounds of races:

It’s a big heat after three of the four riders won their opening round of races. Vaculik starts well and then closes the door on Wozniak to keep first place on the opening turn. Vaculik is a clear winner but behind an almighty battle develops with Lambert finishing second ahead of Zmarzlik.

Doyle starts well on the outside line shooting himself ahead of Holder as the pair battle into the first corner. Holder has not given up on the win during the heat. However, Michelsen finishes quickest passing Holder on the final straight to take second behind Doyle.

Kvech has the outside line and fights with Lindgren for front position after cutting down to the bottom. However, the rookie holds the front and wins his first grand prix heat. Lindgren has to settle for second and Huckenbeck is third.

Madsen heads out then returns to the pits after putting on the wrong helmet colour. He returns with seconds left on the clock and then runs into the start tape. Madsen is excluded and told to leave the track after missing the start. Madsen is replaced by Kowalski.

Woffinden starts with a bang and has a clear advantage as the rest fight for the remaining points behind. The British rider wins ahead of Bewley in second and Lebedevs in third.

Every FIM Speedway Grand Prix round features 16 riders, racing each other over 20 heats.

The winning rider in each heat scores three race points, with two for second place, one for third and zero points for last place, being disqualified or failing to finish.

The eight riders with the most race points progress to the semi-finals.

The riders placed first and second in each semi make it through to the final.

Bewley starts quickly around the outside, behind Wozniak gathers pace and then passes Bewley with a lap remaining. The home crowd go wild as Wozniak takes the win ahead of Bewley in second and Lindgreen in third

Some big names in this third heat. World champion Zmarzlik starts like a rocket from the outside gate diving across the rest to take a clear lead. Woffinden gathers speed as the heat develops but has nothing to stop Zmarzlik, while Holder finished third.

Lambert and Michelsen battle for the bottom line away from the gate with the former making his move stick. The early move results in Lambert taking the victory with Michelsen in second and Kvech in third.

A crash in the opening heat results in a re-start but no punishment for Jason Doyle who looked to have caused Andzejs Lebedevs. Doyle hits the front as Huckenbeck almost hits the barrier, the Australian then stretches his lead as they fight for places behind. The experience of former world champion Doyle proves pivotal as he wins ahead of Huckenbeck in second and Vaculik in third.

The FIM Speedway Grand Prix is back for 2024 with 11 rounds of thrilling action to come over the course of another nail-biting, high-speed campaign.

With back-to-back titles under his belt, four-time champion Bartosz Zmarzlik will attempt to become the first competitor in SGP history to win three consecutive world titles this year but the rest of the field will be hoping to spring an upset.

Veteran Swedish rider Fredrik Lindgren pushed Zmarzlik all the way in 2023 with the title only being decided in the final heat of the final round in Torun, which will be an encouraging sign for anyone hoping to dethrone the dominant Pole.
