Welcome to our live text coverage of UFC 300, where a stacked card saw Alex Pereira stop former champion Jamahal Hill in the first round of the main event. Elsewhere on the card, Zhang Weili defended her women’s strawweight title against compatriot Yan Xiaonan. Earler, Max Holloway knocked out Justin Gaethje to take the BMF title. Watch and stream the action live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

Thanks for following the action with us. It has been an incredible night of action, topped by the incredible knockout victories in the Light-heavyweight and BMF title fights.

“I want to fight in Brazil,” the light-heavyweight king said in his post-fight interview, but inferred promotion wouldn’t be possible for the UFC 301 event, which we will of course show on TNT Sports and discovery+.

He also said: “I want to have a fight at heavyweight,” which could be news to interest our own Tom Aspinall.

After a cagey opening half of the round, Pereira launched a left uppercut which sent Hill to the mat and after a few seconds of ground and pound the bout was over.

Hill looks jovial stroking his beard before they touch gloves. Pereira looks all business.

Alex Pereira (9-2) has made his way to the centre, Hill stepped out of the Octagon to watch his entrance to the arena. Both now are glaring at the other across the Octagon.

The former light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill (12-1) is on his way to the ring. He, of course, never lost his title in the ring. Will his Achilles surgery have had any effect on his speed?

Live coverage from Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada is on and discovery+.

Zhang wins on all three cards 49-45.

The pair both look exhausted in the final round. Zhang again ties her opponent up on the mat but is prevented from locking in a choke hold or getting in substantial ground and pound strikes. A phenomenal effort from both women.

A counter right hand sees Zhang go to the mat once more. Later as they fall to the canvas, Zhang gets position on Yan’s back to establish control and though she does little damage with it Yan is unable to escape and this ensures the challenger needs a stoppage to win in the last stanza.

Yan looks the fresher in third round and knocks the champion down to the mat and then stays on her feet, standing up and kicking her opponent repeatedly in the thighs. They both then land in close but Yan then takes Zhang to the mat twice more, the second time with a leg sweep.

Zhang takes her opponent down early in the round and then pounds her on the mat with the referee surely close to ending the contest. But in the last minute Yan rolls Zhang over and takes control for a moment before they get to their feet and the challenger lands a couple of strong shots.

Yan immediately is looking for right hands and lands three early, while also catching the champion’s attempted stomach kick. After a period of phony war, Zhang lands a left hand, but immediately is taken down by the challenger. She is up quickly but it was certainly a marker. And Zhang goes back to the canvas briefly with another right hand. Zhang lands a right in close and then throws her opponent to the floor. Zhang locks in a choke hold but the #1 contender survives until the bell – but she is out as the hold was released. She thinks the fight is over.

Daniel Cormier says he heard the corner say “I can wake her up” and suggests she may have had smelling salts which could well be illegal.

Zhang Weili defends against number one contender and fellow Chinese fighter Yan Xiaonan.

“That’s the greatest knockout I’ve ever seen,” Joe Rogan said and he’s been ringside at the UFC since 1997.

“Sign the damn contract,” Holloway said. “Spain, Hawaii I don’t care.

“Give it up for Gaethje. He had so much to lose and nothing to gain.

“He did it for you fans.”

Holloway lands a spinning kick early and remains the busier, before a huge right hand sees Gaethje hit the deck briefly and then take a cluster of shots. For a moment it looked like there could be a stoppage, but Gaethje recovers and throws some big shots but every time the champion has success, Holloway replies with more in return and at this stage his blows are having more impact. Holloway ends the fight inviting a war and as Gaethje accepts the invitation, he knocks the champion out with an overhand right with a second left on the clock.

Both begin looking to land with kicks where they have had success, Gaethje to the leg and Holloway to the body. Gaethje with a good right hand sends Holloway back, but he returns with interest landing a couple of right hands and fierce left jab which all see the champion wincing. Gaethje turns the battle with a right hand which sends Holloway down and he is on unsteady legs for the rest of the round, but avoids more punishment.

Holloway again the more active and business picks up when he lands a right hand then follows up with a swinging heel kick which lands. Both then exchange blows. Another kick to the body and follow up right stings Gaethje. Holloway’s body punches also taking their toll out of Holloway who has had to breathe out of his nose from the end of the first round.

Garthje’s nose is streaming blood now. Holloway lands with more telling blows when the pair are standing up before an eye poke sees Gaethje pull away, but after a check with the doctor he continues. Gaethje then lands a good right hand but is caught with a thumb to the other eye. Holloway gets a warning and it seems Gaethje fights better from this point in the round, landing leg kicks swelling up his opponent’s leg, as well as a couple of roundhouse rights. Again Holloway’s round though.

Gaethje is quicker to settle and begins targeting the legs and briefly takes Holloway down with a kick, but ‘Blessed’ starts getting through with right hands and bloodies his opponent’s nose with a powerful uppercut. There is a lot of feinting and not the all out war we might have expected, then a spinning kick on the buzzer from Holloway breaks the champion’s nose.

The fight many are looking forward to the most tonight as Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway looks to take the unique crown off Justin ‘The Highlight’ Gaethje.

The man who pushed Anderson Silva so close for the middleweight title and brought trash talk to a new level is part of the 2024 class.

“Thanks so much to Oliveira, it was an honour to fight him today,” Tsarukyan said

“I want to fight for the title next. I want to be the youngest champion in the division.”

Tsarukyan met champion Islam Makhachev in his first fight in the UFC, losing to the current pound-for-pound champ.

“It was five years ago, I believe this time if I get the chance I win,” Tsarukyan said.

It gets a mixed reception in the arena but seems the right call.

The pair remain upright for the first half of the round with Tsarukyan landing more shots and kicks and then at the mid-point takes the Brazilian down. As Oliveira looks to wriggle out, Tsarukyan gets position on the back but Oliveira gets up and locks in a guillotine with 40 seconds remaining. The referee was checking closely in the last ten seconds but Tsarukyan survives and leaps up with his arms in the air. Until the last 40 seconds it seemed clear Ysraukyan would win the last round and the fight, but could the late, dominant act turn the contest?

Oliveira lands another big right hand early on but Tsarukyan takes it well, hits the target with a remarkable high kick and lands with a few of his own before taking the Brazilian down and though he gets up, Tsarukyan keeps control and eventually gets another take down. Oliveria lands elbows from the floor and his overhooks avoid the ground and pound. Tsarukyan eventually breaks the hold and lands repeated elbows which cut Oliveira on the ear. He locked in a triangle at the end of the round.

Oliveira with an early takedown and he locks in a guillotine but Tsarukyan rolls out of it. Just before the mid-point Tsarukyan gets on top and lays in some shots of his own. There is a time out for an upkick from Oliveira which is illegal. Tsarukyan just wants to carry on but the referee makes him speak to the doctor. He is allowed to condition and is allowed to resume on top. Oliveira rolls out and lands a knee to the body and right hand before the buzzer. This fight living up to the billing.

#1 Charles Oliveira (34-9) takes on #4 Arman Tsarukyan (21-3) with both looking to show they should be the next man to take on pound-for-pound king Islam Makhachev.

“I think by the time I’m 10, 12 and 0 I’ll be fighting for a title,” Nickal said.

“If you’re lucky enough to get the call to fight me just be grateful and sign the contract.”

Brundage lands a couple of shots but then Nickal closes the distance to take him down. He lands some ground and pound leading to Brundage giving him his back and then Nickal locks in a rear-naked choke which makes his opponent tap.

Brundage comes out explosively but failing to land, he is put on the canvas against the expert wrestler. Brundage has to take a few elbows bit does well to avoid a submission. He entertains the fans by making light of Nickal’s attempts to throw uppercuts in the clinch. Nickal goes into the second round for the first time.

The unbeaten fighter (5-0) takes on Cody Brundage (10-5). Maybe the only fight on the card where it is very difficult to see anything but a win for the favourite, but a great showcase for Nickal to show he can be the face of the sport in the years to come.

It has something to live up to. And of course you can catch all the action on and discovery+.

Our own Caroline Pearce caught up with the impressive Brazilian.

“No matter who wins the main event, I want the winner,” Prochazka said.

Prochazka comes out with more confidence and is protecting his legs a bit more but is caught by a couple of powerful right hands by Rakic. Once more a right hand has Rakic wobbling a little as he retrwats back to the Octagon. The shot leaves Rakic bloodied but he fights back with big right and lefts of his own, before Prochazka lands another huge right hand and then follows up with shots, chasing Rakic around the Octagon before landing brutal shots with his opponent prone on the canvas, leading to the referee to stop the fight. What a fight!

Rakic begins with calf kicks to either leg as Prochazka varies his stance. Prochozka walking him down but is being caught and already seems hindered by the kicks. Rakic lands with a right hand which looks to have cut the #2 light heavyweight above the right eye. Prochazka remains dangerous and gets his opponent’s attention with a left hand, before wobbling him with a right just before the end of the round. Not enough to get the round but it will give him confidence when Rakic had dominated up to thast point.

A meeting between Czech and Austrian fighters in the light heavyweight division as #2 Jiri Prochazka meets #5 Aleksandr Rakic. It may not be wise to blink during this one.

A successful first outing in the featherweight division from Sterling winning on all three scorecards 30-27.

Kattar looks fatigued and is taken to the ground once more making it seven takedowns from 12 attempts. Once more the grappling is booed, but the crowd is livened by Sterling lifting his opponent up and powerbombing him to the mat, after which he lands with a number of blows to the head. Kattar survives to the end, but the result is not in doubt at all.

Immediately Sterling lands a kick to the stomach and then grabs his bigger opponent around the waist and takes him to the floor. As Kattar gets back to his feet Sterling peppers his opponent’s right leg with knees and kicks. Kattar looks hesitant and is taken to the floor once more. The crowd don’t enjoy it, but this is smart fighting from the smaller featherweight. Kattar needs a stoppage in round 3.

A cagey start with Kattar on the front foot. Sterling’s overhand right the only punch of note in the first half of the round. Sterling gets Sterling down just before the midway point. Sterling forces Kattar back to the canvas twice more in quick succession and then does so once just before the end of the round.

In around four hours’ time. You can also catch the action on Discovery+.

#8 featherweight Calvin Kattar (23-7) takes on former bantamweight king Aljamain Sterling (23-4).

“It is an honour for me to share the Octagon with Holly,” Harrison said.

“I want my title next Joe. I don’t care if its Raquel. I don’t care if it’s Julianna.

“Before the end of the year I want the (bantamweight) title.”

Harrison is dominates again from the start of the round and gets position on the back, before locking in a rear naked choke to make Holm tap.

Chants of “Holly, Holly, Holly” ring around the arena as Holm circles Harrison, but then Holm takes down the double gold medallist. The commentators warn it might be a bad move to engage with Harrison in this way and she eventually forces Holm to ground landing 36 significant shots with either hand and elbows flush. Somehow Holm lasts to the end of the round. Both cheeks are swollen.

All the way until the main event between Pereira and Hill when we will find out definitively who the best light heavyweight in the world is.

You can watch all the action on Discovery+.

One of the most decorated women MMA fighters ever, Holly Holm (15-6) takes on a fighter on the up in Kayla Harrison (16-1) – a two-time Olympic gold medallist in judo.

At short notice Lopes lost to Movsar Evloev on his UFC debut and he wants to get the chance for revenge.

“I knew the result could not be any different,” Lopes says. “I’m going to be the champion one day.

“I want Movsar, let’s do it again.”

Yusuff lands three early calf kicks but Lopes explodes with a right uppercut in tight which sends the Nigerian fighter to the canvas. Though Yusuff gets back to his feet another huge uppercut and big left hook puts him back on the canvas and after a glut of shots to the head on the mat, Lopes is awarded a dramatic win.

#13 featherweight Sodiq Yusuff (13-3) meets Diego Lopes (23-6)

“I can’t afford to lose,” Moicano says after the fight. “I will not stop until I win the title.

Moicano with a takedown early by grabbing around the hips, then he controls the fight with Turner unable to get off his back. After being patient for a couple of minutes, Moicano explodes with a round of groud of pound which eventually sees the referee intervene with nothing coming back from Turner.

Turner hurts Mooucano with two early kicks to the body. Moicano takes Turner down to the mat where the black belt is more coomfortable. Turner got back to his feet with 90 seconds left in the round. In the closing seconds Turner lands a big straight left hand which puts Mooicano down and has him wobbling as he heads back to his corner.

#10 lightweight Jalin Turner (14-7) takes on #13 Renato Moicano (18-5-1)

You can also watch all the action on Discovery+.

A bit surprising it was that close. She won on two cards 29-28, losing the other by the same score.

Andrade lands a straight right and then ragdolls Rodriguez to the canvas. As Rodriguez gets up she is caught by hooks in close. Rodriguez tries a guillotine, but after a 20 seconds Andrade shakes it off. Rodriguez stumbles ot the canvas in the last 30 seconds and Andrade stalks her landing heavy blows. Less action than the rest of the contest but enough to ensure Andrade of victory.

The second round begins in the same way with Andrade being caught by straight shots and the calf kicks have not had too much impact on the taller fighter’s movement. Andrade’s nose is bloodied as Rodriguez lands increasingly with quickfire combinations. Andrade follows Rodriguez loading up on shots while eating them in response, but eventually does get to Rodriguez with lunging hooks with and the tall fighter is shaken taking shots against the Octagon when the buzzer goes.

Rodriguez looks to box at range dancing to right and left while flicking out jabs and front kicks. Andreade looks to calf kick her opponent’s front leg. Rodriguez lands the telling blows in the first two minutes. Andrade catches a front kick and Rodrgiuez slips to the floor which is just what Andrade wants as she ground and pounds on the floor. Daniel Cormier in the commentary booth is unimpressed by an Andrade ‘Spinaroony’ but she does gain control afterwards and Rodriguez in all is on her back for half the round.

An explosive match between the two Brazilian strawweights ranked #4 and #6.

“Paddy, how dare you, you slimy, sugary little snake,” Green said live on TNT Sports 1.

“How dare you say my name. I’m coming after you.

“July, I’m coming to your backyard, with your people, to kick your ass.”

That could well light the touch paper for some explosive war of words. It surely won’t be long until Pimblett reacts.

He takes the fight on all three scorecards 30-27, 30-25 and 29-26.

The Notorious One pays tribute to Miller’s efforts.

The corner do their best job on Miller but immediately as the blows rain in on him again, the crimson mask returns. He tries to get back initiative with right hooks and knees but keeps taking straight shots through the middle and increasingly he can’t see them coming. But then a big left hand takes back some momentum and Green initiates a clinch. After a breather Green lands with big rights and left hands which send Miller down to the canvas, landing more shots on the floor but MIller gets up and then somehow lasts to the bell.

A similar pattern early with Green landing more straight shots but eating a counter left from Miller. The cumulative damage is showing on Miller’s face with his blood and cheek oozing blood. In the last minute Green starts walking down Miller and it will be difficult for the 40-year-old to last the full final round.

Green holds his hands low as usual and is caught by a southpaw straight left from Miller which forces him to pedal back against the Octagon and go down briefly. Green begins to take control finding his rhythm and landing straight rights and lefts reddening Miller’s face, then switching up with kicks to the sternum. But then in the final 30 seconds Miller lands again with a big left hand which has Green wobbling, the two then exchange shots on the buzzer with Miller connecting with another left and Green with a kick. A thrilling first round.

He fought in UFC 100 and 200 and now Jim Miller will face #11 lightweight Bobby Green in Las Vegas tonight.

“I feel good in the division,” Figueiredo said. “Dana, one shot at the belt please.

“I want that $300,000 bonus.”

It was impressive but I think we’re going to see more dramatic during the night to claim that record bonus for performance of the night.

Figueiredo takes Garbrandt down early and locks in a triangle. Garbrandt launches himself up explosively, but gives up the back and Figueiredo locks in a choke which sees his opponent tap.

A slow start as the veterans size each other up. Figueiredo puts Garbrandt down with a right-footed head kick but the American gets back to the feet and is not too affected by it. He lands with a strong combination of hooks with either hand. Figueiredo takes Garbrandt down in the closing seconds.

If Bruce Buffer says so, it is official. He is in the ring on the mic so we are moments away from the action beginning.

Beginning with the contest between two former champions, the 8th-rated bantamweight fighter Deiveson Figueiredo and Cody Garbrandt.

The preliminary action will be underway shortly from Las Vegas on the UK home of UFC. You can of course watch the action live on Discovery+.

Thanks for joining our coverage of what has been called ‘the most stacked card in history’. I’m Ciaran Baynes and I’ll be here with you right through what will surely be an exhilarating night of action.

Jamahal Hill says he is “coming to take” Alex Pereira’s “head off” at UFC 300 on Saturday night.

Hill is a former light heavyweight champion who had to vacate his belt after rupturing his Achilles tendon last year.

Fit again, he has been given the chance to reclaim the strap against Brazil’s Pereira as he tops the card at UFC’s third centenary event.

Speaking to TNT Sports after his face-off with his opponent, he made it clear he was coming with one thing on his mind.

Hill said: “I was on fire. The stage is all set. I’m coming to take his head off.

“The energy is great, the crowd is excited. They’ve got their picks and they’re rock solid with their picks.

“I’ve got nothing to prove, just something to show.”
